The T-County Clay Busters are members of the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program (TNSCTP). The TNSCTP is the #1 Youth Scholastic Shooting Program in the Nation.  The TNSCTP provides Tennessee’s youth, grades 5-12 and now collegiate athletes, an opportunity to compete in clay target shooting competitions with their peers from across the state.

Since the programs inception in 2001, participation in the TNSCTP has grown enormously. Currently, more than 2000 youth are registered SCTP athletes in Tennessee. The TNSCTP is designed to teach student athletes the importance of safe firearms handling, responsibility, leadership, teamwork and to promote healthy competition. In the 2012 Tennessee 4H State Trap Shooting competition held at the Montgomery Shooting Complex in Clarksville, TN. Both our Senior Division and our Junior Division Teams win State Titles.

In the Shelby County District Shoot held May 5th 2012, our teams and individual athletes competed at a high level. Our Junior Varsity team won the District Championship. With individual awards going to Joey Simmons, who after winning a shoot off, earned the High Overall Junior Varsity Male Championship with a score of 98 and Jake Archer won 2nd place with a score of 97. Chase Avery won a shoot off for 3rd in the Male Varsity Division with a score of 98 and Amber Pruitt won the Varsity Lady's Division with  a score of 95. It was a great day for our athletes.

Every year our team competes in SCTP District and Regional Competitions to prepare us for the Tennessee State Championships which are held in Nashville, TN. In July, the National Scholastic Clay Target Program Championships are held at the World Recreational and Shooting Complex in Sparta, IL. In 2011, there were over 2000 student athletes representing 44 states in the National Competition. Several of the T-County Clay Busters were recognized in the 2011 SCTP Nationals.
